BORA BORA TRAVEL GUIDE

Bora Bora, where do I even begin? We went to Bora Bora for our honeymoon in November 2017. It was magical and even more beautiful than the pictures. Every morning I would wake up, walk outside and tell Judson this place looks fake! Overall we had the most magical time and made memories we will cherish forever. Highly recommend for an amazing once in a lifetime honeymoon!

HOW TO GET THERE:

I wish it was easier to get to Bora Bora but the travel is longgg. About 16-17 hours total from Auburn, AL where we live. But to me it was worth every second and we are so glad we did it before we had children! Back in 2017 we flew Delta out of Atlanta to LAX. Once we got to LA we had to switch from domestic to international and check in with Air Tahiti. This flight landed in Papeete, Tahiti the capital of Tahiti. At the time that was the only airline that we knew of that flew to Tahiti (this flight was a red eye so we slept most of the time which didn’t make it feel so long!) Once we landed in Papeete we had to get on another jumper plane to get to Bora Bora (it was about an hour if I remember correctly). Then once you make it to Bora Bora the airport is on its own little island so you have to get on a boat from your resort to get to where you are staying! By this point we were so excited the travel did not seem so bad at all! Now going home was another story.. definitely felt longer!

WHERE TO STAY:

Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora - the best view on the entire island in my opinion! We felt like royalty here, we would definitely stay here again if we ever went back.

Other Luxury Resorts: The St. Regis Bora Bora, Conrad Bora Bora Nui

Other Resorts: Sofitel Private Island, Intercontinental Thalasso Resort, or Le Meridien Resort

WHERE TO EAT:

The one thing about Bora Bora is that you have to take a boat to go eat anywhere other than your resort unless you stay on the main island. Good thing was every restaurant at the Four Seasons was amazing!

Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora:

Tere Nui - We ate breakfast here every morning. Was a buffet, everything was amazing and fresh.

Fare Hoa Beach Bar and Grill - We ate here for lunch most days - was delish. We also ordered food from our beach chairs the other days as well.

Sunset Restaurant & Bar - This was our favorite spot for dinner! Looked out over the water and Mount Otemanu (the mountain you see in all of the pics). We ate here multiple nights because the sushi was incredible and fresh!

Arii Moana - another nice restaurant on the resort. We actually never ate here because we loved the sushi at Sunset Restaurant & Bar so much. But it looked amazing.

In-Bungalow Dining - you could do this all day long for any meal, which we did for one or two dinners!

We also had a special dinner on the beach that my sweet in-laws surprised us with where they customize it just for you, which was really special for our honeymoon!

Polynesian Dinner Show - they have this weekly at the resort and it was so fun! It is a Polynesian family style dinner while you are watching Polynesian music and fire dancers perform! You sit at a table with other people that are staying at the resort and we met the sweetest couples, also Kellan Lutz and his wife were there(if you are a Twilight fan you know who i’m talking about). It is a must!

Off the Resort:

Bloody Mary’s Restaurant, Bar, Yacht Club - this was the only place we went other than our resort (because the food was so good where we were) and it was amazing! It’s a very famous restaurant that a ton of famous people have been too! You went up and picked out your fresh caught seafood and how you wanted it seasoned before you sat down. The whole restaurant is indoor/outdoor so your table was is in the sand, which was so fun! We loved it, was a very cool experience.

WHAT TO DO:

RELAX! That was the main reason we went to Bora Bora. We just wanted to stay at a fabulous resort where we wouldn’t have to go anywhere but just lay on the beach or by the pool after all the stress that comes with planning a wedding. At the resort we also had beautiful places to snorkel with complimentary snorkeling gear and paddle boards. And not to mention they treat you like royalty and know your name everywhere you go!

Semi Private Ray & Shark Snorkel Safari - this was amazing! and one of our favorite parts of the honeymoon. They take you to the main reef on Bora Bora to snorkel, then you go to snorkel with the sting rays, and then with the black-tip reef sharks! Which I was terrified of the sharks but I am so glad I did it. Judson on the other hand was the first one to dive in, he loves any kind of thrill! Then we ended the day at a private island where our guide cooked us a traditional Tahitian meal and taught us how to open coconuts. We had the best time.

Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora SPA - the most amazing spa I have ever been to! We had a couples massage in the Overwater Spa Suite. Under our massage beds were clear glass panels with the fish in the lagoon underneath! Was the most incredible spa ever!

Overall Bora Bora was one of our most favorite places we have ever been! It was the perfect destination to get away and relax. We highly recommend! Please let me know if you have any questions!
